Must-Have Furniture for Your Home Study
If you’re fortunate to have a study at home where you can use it as a blank canvas to decorate just for yourself, then you need to make sure that you create a room that is not only productive but stylish.
Whether you are a working at home person or you’re studying and you need a spare room to be able to get your head down and get into the books, that doesn’t mean you can’t have something stylish prepped and ready for you to go. Let’s take a look at some of the must-have furniture pieces that can transform your study into a productivity haven.

- Comfortable sofas. No matter how small the room is, you could probably fit Chesterfield sofas in there so that you can have somewhere comfortable to lay across, to sit down and just to get stuck into your books. We’re going to discuss a desk and chair a little bit later, but having a sofa gives you somewhere that’s not just keeping you in a good position. It’s going to give you a moment to sit and sink into the cushions comfortably so that you can really concentrate.
- Ergonomic Desks. One of the cornerstones of a productive study is the desk. You need somewhere to set up your laptop, your paperwork, and your stationery so that you are sitting at a decent height and comfortably able to work without hurting yourself. Ergonomics really does matter for your comfort and your health, so choose an ergonomic desk that supports your posture and helps you to focus better. You could even choose a desk that is changeable in height so that you can use it as a stand or sit depending on how you’re feeling.
- An ergonomic chair. You may have a comfortable sofa in the study, but a comfortable chair will keep your posture straight and it should support your back at the same time. It should also be comfortable enough for long study sessions, but it’s the couch behind you that’s going to be great for laying down listening to podcasts.
- A functional bookshelf. One or two of these will actually really help you with your studies. No study room is really complete without bookshelves for you to be able to line up files and materials in the order that makes sense for you. The clutter that comes in your first study space, such as piled up books everywhere or papers scattered around, is really not going to do you any favors. When you add bookshelves, you make all the difference.
Storage Solutions. From filing cabinets to storage cubes and drawer organizers, you should never underestimate the power of clutter and storage solutions. If you want to remain productive but you can’t get rid of all of your old paperwork or study cards, then you need to have a way to organise them so that they’re not all under your feet. Drawer organisers will keep your stationary in one place and you will appreciate being able to stay productive as a result.
