India has the largest number of medical colleges in the world. The country is known to produce a large number of doctors in the world. India is targeting to induct 14,93,385 doctors by 2024 as per NCBI reports. Also, the pace of medical facilities is growing fast in the country. Healthcare facilities have grown substantially. Being the third-largest producer of medicines in the world and the largest exporter, the country also has a high number of medical tourists from all over the world. 

People from all over the world come to India to receive medical treatments because Indian medical expertise is considered affordable and among the best in the world. Distribution of Medical Colleges

Earlier there were 260 private and 272 government colleges 5 years back as per Hindustan Times reports. The country has 532 medical colleges that offer close to 78,000 MBBS seats.  India’s Health Expenditure is 1.28 per cent on the GDP as per the latest reports of Statista. This means India is one of those countries that creates a large number of doctors in the world. 

In comparison, the USA is leading with more than 10 Lakh doctors as per Statista Reports. Medical education should be treated as a governmental responsibility. The responsibility to educate well and wisely should be noble and must be treated in an unbiased manner because the life of students and their future patients might depend on them. So, to protect against low standards in healthcare, the criteria have always been strict and more demanding than other streams.

NEET: NEET is a medical entrance test that is accepted for admission to all government, private medical and dental colleges. With this exam, you can also apply for BDS. For MD and MS, NEET PG should be taken. NEET is the only accepted exam to take admissions in the MBBS colleges in India. Following are the important dates of the exam are given below-

• NEET 2020 Application Submission Date – December 2, 2019, to February 9, 2020
• NEET 2020 Admit card releasing date – 2nd week of July

• NEET 2020 Result Declaration – August 2020

Note: Admission to MBBS course through AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS in their respective colleges is now scrapped, and now they accept NEET score only.
