Happiness Advantage: Boost Your Happiness

Some people think Happiness is a choice. I do not. I believe happiness is a result of the choices we make. The way we look at life does not change overnight. Our life experiences have paved the way for our attitudes and how we look at the world. For some of us, this may not line up with being happy. The good news is that it doesn't matter where you are in life, what job you have, how much money you make, your health or really anything that can be measured. Your life can be changed by changing what you do. I know it's not that simple, but hear me out.

 

Let's find a foundation to agree that things could be worse. My health is terrible, but it was much worse a few years ago. I got sick because of my shady employer, but I'm alive, unlike some of my co-workers. How's your health, do you know people with worse problems or know of them.

Even if not, you're alive, so let's agree that it could be worse. Since your alive, you can make it better, with a plan. This is the first way you can change your life and change your happiness. Health does not improve overnight, but with a long term plan maybe you can be way better off three months from now.  As long as you do not accept today as your future than everything can change. Health is just one example, the idea of recognizing that it could be worse can be applied to anything. The first item on the list is your mindset. After that everything is possible.

What are you working toward

Your mindset will not change just because you want it to. You need a plan. You need to work toward a goal. You need to build confidence and feel good about what your accomplishing. People need to have confidence and accomplish things. Do nothing, watching TV all day, and feeling sorry for where you are in life does nothing good.

Goals are what drive us, without goals we start to forget why we're doing what we're doing. Accomplishments do not have to be big. Sometimes leaving the house was a win for me. We are all at different stages. Goals can start small and work up to something big.

 

Be happy with what you have

So what if your friends drive fancy cars and you can't. Let's focus on what you have or can do instead. Don't even compare yourself to others. This is about you, not them.

What is going good in your life? What do you do well? Find your assets and focus on them. This doesn't mean forgetting about the things you want to change. We all have room to grow. Some things will come naturally and some things will be the biggest challenges of your life. Maybe your not ready for the big challenges, then start small, maybe today you just need to leave the house.

I could list a bunch of books for you to read that would help. Instead, let's just start with the first book on my list to change your life and your happiness. Before I tell you about the book I have a question. Are you will to accept things how they are? This quesiton has two answers and nothing more.
